Acrylic and oil on canvas. Signed at the backside by Vilmantas 2024 The faces of friends I never met 'Faces of Friends I Never Met' is the expression of deep yearning for human connection. When alone, one might begin to think of life, of the purpose of creating, who they may hold dear to them - who are friends, who are not, who are family, who have drifted away. One might begin to see faces; faces of those they love, of those they miss, of those they haven’t met yet. These faces could be silly or serious, sad or dumb - but they are loved faces. They are yearned for faces, the faces one misses when kept in a state of solitude. Humans have a need for connection - a human longing for each other. Nowadays, especially in the age of technology, of Facebook likes and Instagram followers, humans are pursuing that desire to connect, to know one another - to have friendship and connection, but are those connections real or just the faces one never met. |
